Public Artworks

“I love getting stuck into research for public artwork, its often local history and culture. It helps me get an idea of an area and what it means to local people. With these murals I like to take the reference photos myself where possible, if not, sometimes I'm use historical photos or working with photographers. If the image needs it I have commissioned 3D models or made physical mockups of structures to get the shapes and shadows right.

The painting then starts, after making good the wall and priming properly. Using scaffold or cherry pickers where required. This is my favourite part obviously and I enjoy getting feedback from people as the artwork develops.

Some of these murals are funded publicly, however some are privately funded and some are crowd funded. What you need firstly is an idea, person or feeling you want to celebrate, a wall belonging to a willing landlord. Then get in touch to talk through the process with me.”
